Are there any issues with running WDE in a virtual machine ?

I recently tried running WDE on XP and CentOS6 inside VirtualBox on CentOS6. It ran quite well,and solves problems of secure backup and dual-use devices and data exfiltration to malware so that I was wondering if there is a catch.

Are there any VMs that are know to work well with WDE ? Or conversely, ones that don't ?

I did have one issue with WDE on CentOS6 Linux, where I think I omitted to add "-all" when I encrypted the drive and the system was essentially bricked - unable to find the data partition at boot time. But on a VM with a backup, that's not a big problem.
