Our Windows servers have the SEP AV component installed. The FIREWALL, SONAR, NIP,BIP-FF, BIP-IE are NOT a part of the client installation package present on the servers. That is further reflected correctly in the SEPM, which indicates "Not Installed" for all those components.
There is a shortcut to an application on one of the servers in question that, as part of the process, launches IE with a specific URL. When the application opens the URL, there is a message as follows:
"The 'Symantec Vulnerability Protection' add-on from Symantec Corporation' is ready for use. Enable Don't Enable"
The SEPM setting for Intrusion PreventionPolicy originally had"Enable Browser Intrusion Prevention for Windows" checked. I subsequently removed the check mark from that box and allowed SEPM polices to refresh. The message is still coming up on the server. Also, there are initial indications that the particular component broke functionality when it was enabled, but that has yet to be confirmed.
From my understanding of some recent kb searches, regardless of whether the "Enable...." option is checked or not, this component should not be installed and should not be generating this message, given that IP is NOT installed. Why is this occurring?!
Thanks in advance for your resoponses....
