Need some help confirming something...

I need a solution

Can I get a couple users of either the "Snare for Windows Event Collector" or the "Microsoft Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Event Collector" to confirm something for me?  After a full day of working in the office, could you to run the query below on your own userid and tell me if you have any events that day with your actual workstation's IP address in the IP Source Address field (or any of the normalized fields for that matter).  All I see is the actual server IP addresses in this field. Obviously you will need to change the product to the correct Windows collector and enter your username.

(Mechanisms contains Login ANDProduct = Snare for Windows Event Collector AND (Windows User Name contains <enter your username> ORUser Name contains <enter your username>))

Drive 1 disk encryption failure

I need a solution

We have multiple laptops of identical configuration operating on WIN-7 32 bit.  These are Dell mfg with two hard drives used primarily as standalone systems controlling various test benches.  All earlier installs completed encryption of both drives completely.The PGP version is 10.2.1. 

The install for this last unit fails when I attempt to start the encryption of disk 1 (i.e. 'D' drive).

When I attempt to start the process and put in the password it indicates the encryption begins, but it will not go past '0%' complete. 

I have researched here, and followed various other simialr problems, without being able to resolve my own.

I have went to the command level and issued the pgpwde resume request for disk 1, and it will also show that it was accepted and the process has started without any changes being made. 

I have rebooted (multiple times); deleted and recreated the drive; reformatted the drive; added an deleted various size forlder just to have random data there; and still have not been able to get it to encrypt.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should do next?

LUA server can't download package Client - Virus Definitions

Hi all,
I installed and configured LUA 2.3.1 successfully. The schedule download and distributition virus definitons is OK
Since 14 Jan 2013, it always download "client - virus definitions" fail, the other (client IPS, proactive threat ...) is OK
 
I re-install, upgrade to LUA server 2.3.2. I try to manual download both virus defs 12.1 and 12.1 RU2. But it still fail
The client is SEP 12.1 RU1, update from management server normally.

How to allow applications to access internet, SEP Ver12.?

I need a solution

Good morning.

I have SEP Ver.12.1.1101.

I have a few applications on my PC that are not able to access the internet. When I run them I do not get them popup window from SEP that autodetects that the app. is trying to access the internet and says basically "allow access, yes/no"? I've been looking through SEP to see how to fix this, but so far I do not see the issue.

Can anyone point me to a "how-to" video or an instructional? I haven't seen anything other than a video from 2010 with a different version of SEP.

Duplicate virscanXX.dat files on Windows 7. Can duplicates be deleted?

I need a solution

We have over 500 Windows 7 laptops/desktops (64 bit) with SEP 12.1.1101.401. When looking for files to clean up I see duplicate file names I see the virscan7.dat, located in  different folders on the c: drive. I have many other virscanX.dat's (e.g. virscan9.dat, virscan5.dat, etc.) that have duplicates as well.

Can I delete them manually, or does Symantec have a system cleanup utility?

Validity of Nortons Scans

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

I have Norton through Concast. I have on NUMEROUS occasions received a 8504,104 Error message. Power eraser has been ran with minimal sucess. I have had 2 runs from my Windows registry internal system telling me that I have corruption within my system and to get it checked. I also had feedback from Mozilla telling me I had issues with my system. Each time I called Norton and I was reassured that "they were just trying to sell me their product" My system was secure and there was no infections within my system. This is my 4th computer in 1 year so you can understand my anxiety....don't want to buy another one. So my concern is HOW did I get this:  

Ransomware.UkashVirus/FBI Moneypak is a ransomeware alert claiming that your PC is blocked. Once installed,Ukash Virus/FBI Moneypakwill display a scary fake alert stating that your are visiting ilegalwebsits.UkashVirus/FBIMoneypak completeely locks your system so you will not be able to preform any tasks. SetStretch.exe   along with 7 other cookies with double click and goes on.

hi there,

 

when i want to install the pgp wde installtion,this installer window pop up,

 

 

you must restart your system for the configuration changes made to PGP Desktop to take effect. Click yes to restart now or No if you plan to restart manually later.
 
it should be no pop up and the installation should go till the end.
 
any1 have any idea?

Dear All,

I am using the Symantec Endpoing Protection manager 11.0.2000 , and i want to move the server to another server with diffent IP  Diffrent name , i get the one of the artical of the symantec that show how to add the aditional site & that move on to new site & delete the old one after moving all policy & database,

i am doing all stem by step, after install the same version EPPM opn the another mactine done, that itry to add the aditional site with the emabded database , but when it goes to syncronize the database , but fail with the error 'Unable to connect the specified server' , i can reach to that old server , both are in same LAN

cleared MBR of PGP encrypted Windows 7 (64bit) - How to get back the data

Hi,

I had Windows 7 boot problems on my PGP encrypted Windows 7 (64bit). In a Windows Recovery session I cleared the MBR, not knowning that I will lose access to my harddisk, as PGP has its own bootloader.

Now, I am trying to get back my data.

Using PGP recovery disk had not worked so far, as it could not recognize my PGP encrypted WIndows 7 (64bit).

Can somebody help me.

symantec endpoint protection pop up then printer wont print

Please help

every time i go to print i get a popup saying

symantec endpoint protection

traffic from ip address xxxxxxxxx is blocked

it blocks it for 10 mins at a time the only way round this i have found is to disable network threat protection in the symantec settings but

this is becoming a real pain please help

oh and please help in easy steps im not very good on my laptop

we would like to feed data from 2 databases and need to create correlation rules for the activity?

how is this possible via ssim 4.6 version.

Hi all,

I have a problem with my SEP 12.1.

here the story, I have a IBM Server using Windows 2003 Enterprise OS, i'm use this server as a web server for php aplication and SQL. and accesed by user using IP Public.

i install the SEP 12.1 and running well......but today as a usssual i 've checked the server and find my SEP has broke.

SEP showing only Anti Virus and spyware protection only.....

fyi, two days ago...i see in symantec warningt my server get attack from other ip publik.

i try to reinstall SEP but the windows displaying : another newest SEP installed in my server.......but i'm using the same source

please help me........there is virus attack my server or only a SEP error ?

can i fix the SEP ?

Enabling FIPS mode via Command Line 9.6

Hello there! We are having an issue with our PGP command line v9.6. I do not believe it is related to the version as 9.6 has the same capability in this as later versions (10x, etc).

We are attempting to enable FIPS for file encryption. If I view the pgp --version --verbose, under the PGPSDK section, it tells me that FIPS mode is disabled. By reviewing documentation, it tells me that I can turn on FIPS mode during the command line. However, when I type this command:

pgp --encrypt readme.txt --r <keyid> --fips-mode --verbose

It just returns to the commnd prompt, with no result, the encryption does not happen, and there are no messages printed to STDOUT. If I omit the fips-mode option (or fips option; there is difference in the result), the encryption happens normally.

In addition, if I set the environment variable PGP_FIPS_MODE=True, PGP no long does anything, not even a pgp --L or PGP --version

This happens with both RSA4 keys and DSS keys. I am not sure if I would need a different algorithm to make this work or not.

Any ideas? Thank you! :)

Endpoint Protection 12.1.2015.2015 "port scan" false positive

Running Endpoint Protection 12.1.2015.2015 on Windows 7, and have had the usual tweaks that others have reported that needed to be addressed such as the "traffic from application svchost.exe" fix with IPv6, and that has since gone away for me as well with using the recommendation of turning IPv6 off since it's not being used. However, I've recently run into a snag with this machine since it runs VMware Workstation on it as well to run one of my test asterisk voip virtual machines. When I place calls out from my physical Cisco 7965 IP Phone, on every other call (usually happens with back to back calls) I get:

The 64.x.x based IP is that of my SIP trunk provider, which is not a threat.

 

Line item from Traffic Log after the event:

The WDE-ADMIN Active Directory Group

I need a solution

I need help on managing clients remotely using a Symantec drive encryption admin AD group. I know there are instructions and they call to create a new Administrator group called WDE-ADMIN in Active Directory. What I'm confused about is how you configure this group on the Universal server for the encryption policy rules I have set. The only WDE option on the universal server is to set the WDE admin password, which I did and that password work fine. I want to be able to add all the LAN admin groups as a member of the WDE-ADMIN group and have any of those support persons be able to encrypt/decrypt and access the encrypted drive for troubleshooting needs.

Can someone post a detailed document about what OU this WDE-ADMIN group should be in and how you configure this on the universal server so it can be applied via a PGP policy update?
