"Internal communications error" on Enforce Server

I need a solution

Hello, everyone.

Please help. I need solution in problem with Symantec Enforce Server. On Enforce Server error occurs periodically - Internal communications error. Before an error, Endpoint Server is hung, and after a while was a restart. Before error is become, no action was conducted. Which can be ideas or proposals to resolve this problem?

Add a client install package 32Bit, what happens to 64BIT client

I need a solution

I have upgraded my SEPM to latest version 12.1.6MP5 and now need update all my clients. What I do is on SEPM click on Clients, choose required group and click on Install Packages tab. I then Add a Client Install Package. What I normally do is choose 32BIT package version.

I would like to know what happens to 64BIT client, do they also get updated or I need have 2 group one 32BIT and another 64BIT?

Any other way to upgrade all the clients?

We put together a response rule to retain all incident attachments, though in some incidents the attachments are not available to download in console. ONly the name of attachment is visible. Where can we extract them? thanks in advance.

Hi all,
i'm trying the Symantec Endopoint Protection Small Business Edition for a my customer and i'm not able to resolve the problem.

Outlook Express on WinXP doesn't send or receive emails.
 

i disabled the email protection but it doesn't work...

i tried to create a rule in the firewall section to trust the OE application but it doesn't work

please help

i canit buy this product if i can't solve this problem.

Error configuring Directory Connection

Hello fellows,
 
I’m having a problem configuring a Directory connection in a DLP 14.5 installation. The error that appears at the Enforce Console is:
 
“Could not log in to the directory server with the specified credentials.”
 
At tomcat’s log, the error appears like this:
 
“Caused by: javax.naming.AuthenticationNotSupportedException: [LDAP: error code 8 - 00002028: LdapErr: DSID-0C0901FB, comment: The server requires binds to turn on integrity checking if SSL\TLS are not already active on the connection, data 0, v1db1 ]”
 
I already tried another Domain Admin credentials, but no success.

I tried the "Use Secure Connection (SSL) option too. All options, with different credentials, alternative “Base DN’s”. The weird thing is that I made an AD integration with Data Insight and SEP in the same environment and it works smoothly.
 
I found that maybe is needed to import the AD certificate to make this work, but I tried that to with no results.
 
If anyone have some clue about this error, I’ll appreciate it.

I am using Symantec DLP to identify PII/PHI on my networks. What I'm finding is that the stock PHI search agents produce almost all false positives and fail to identify known PHI.

Has anyone successfully created a PHI search agent that limits false positives?

Email signatures from Symantec are unverified - how to get public key

Hi,

I've received an email from Symantec asking me to reconfirm my email address in the Global Directory.

The email was sent from an email server using the domain @keyserver1.sysauth.net however this domain is not in the global verification keys that you can download from either

https://keyserver.pgp.com

or

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO83926

I've also received emails from keyserver2.sysauth.net

The email I received has therefore been listed as "unverified" by PGP Desktop as I believe it should have, as there was no match.

I've lodged a case with Symantec and they have confirmed that this email was sent from a server within their email cluster. I'm happy with everything up to this point.

However I can't get from Symantec a link to download their updated verification keys which include the new domains that they are using so that I can verify their emails - just like the emails I received back in March which were verified.

Can anyone reply with a link to where their updated keys are kept or give me a vector into the proper route to get this fixed?

I find it suprising that a security company sends emails which cannot be verified as being sent by them.

We're currently using PGP Desktop 10.1.2, PGP SDK 4.0.1. Every year we check to make sure this software is still FIPS 140-2 compliant. Can anyone point me to where I can find a certificate showing this version is compliant with FIPS 140-2?

SEP ver. 12.1.6 (12.1 RU6 MP5) need uninstall

I need a solution

Hi.

I use SEP ver. 12.1.6 (12.1 RU6 MP5) build 7004 (12.1.7004.6500). My computer is running Windows 10 and when i try to install Anniversary Update, it says Uninstall this app now because it isn`t compatible with Windows 10. See screenshoot or uploaded file.

I uninstall, computer needs restart and then try again. This activity takes long time.

What i need to do for the next time when Microsoft produce next big Windows 10 update?

Is any solution?

501 Connection rejected by policy [7.7]

Hello,

Our emails sent to one of our business partners are getting filtered with delivery error "501 Connection rejected by policy [7.7]".

Log: "Sep  9 17:05:38 mail postfix/smtp[18173]: 2FF9143890: hostcluster5.us.messagelabs.com[216.82.241.195] refused to talk to me: 501 Connection rejected by policy [7.7] 11905, please visit www.messagelabs.com/support for more details about this error message."

Our mail server is properly configured, and not blacklisted, to our knowledge (and tests).

Could you please check your system and authorize our IP address 212.83.151.81, or let us know what actually triggerred the block so we can take corrective action.

As a side note: it would save a lot of people's time if you could have a better process to deal with these issues, like most other major email providers or filters.

1) The SMTP rejection message states "please visit www.messagelabs.com/support for more details about this error message" but this address redirects to your generic support page, and not the page specifically related to email distribution issues. Fortunately google is smart enough to give me the correct page straight away.

2) In the FAQ for rejection issues, you just say "If the problem persists, please contact Symantec.cloud support for further assistance.", but assistance can only be contacted by your customers. I guess you understand that most people encountering delivery issues are not your customers, but people trying to reach your customers...

3) After googling around and browsing this forum, it seems that this is the only way to reach you and trigger an action on your part. But I can only post here if I am registered. And registration implies providing a lot of information about myself and my company. Really, I'm here only to get an email to its recipient, so all this is kind of annoying.

4) Browsing the forum, I found the link to check email server IP's reputation and request de-listing, but the tool just says that all is fine with this IP. Which obviously is wrong, as the explanations on your FAQ regarding the error encountered clearly state server/IP related errors, not message related ones.

I hope these remarks will help you improve your process in this regards. Fighting spam is good, but please provide a proper way to solve issues with legitimate email.

Servers not updating AV definitions

I need a solution

I have a new SEP install and a new push to my servers.  I did the minimum push - the small package for servers - so there is only AV on them.

When I log in, the definitions are not up to date and clicking on FIX does not update them.

I go to Live Update, and I see 9 updates downloaded and 9 separate catalogs are downloaded, but the summary says 0 updates available and 0 updates installed.

The date of my definitions is August 17.

I'm looking for some help on getting my clients to update.

Any ideas?

Upgrade Woes, in a pickle

Hi All,

Need a solution here since I am unwilling to head into the office for the public holidays.

SMG version is 10.5.4.4, trying to upgrade to 10.6.0.3 and than to newer versions.

GUI is simply not working (Gets stuck on displaying EULA and will not display descriptions, so I cannot proceed.

I have tried, Firefox, chrome, IE 11 and 10 both in normal and compatibility modes

On the CLI,

Problem :

When I do a list update. I get hundreds of the msg below.

Another app is currently holding the yum lock; waiting for it to exit...
  The other application is: yum
    Memory :  82 M RSS ( 93 MB VSZ)

Now, is the world (appliance going to come down crashing if I proceed with the update?

Rebooting the appliance dows not remove file locks.

cc-config database --check  returns a clear database.

Any Advice?

Alert - Login failures occur from a single IP

Hi,

I am using SMG 10.6.1-4 and I am experiencing daily administrative notification messages like "Alert - Login failures occur from a single IP"; literally thousands of them.

Someone tries to authenticate using following users on 587 port (via LDAP query).

User    Number of login failures per single user

I am pretty concerned. I don't figure out however a way to lock them out, because of course IP address changes day by day/attack by attack.
My firewall logs show 1 entry for a single connection but on that single connection (I suppose), thousands of authentication tries are performed.

I already contacted Symantec support and they told me there is no native way to deal with it.

I kindly ask:

1) What can I do ? Has SMG a way/mechanism to deal with it ? How ?
2) If not, what do you suggest ? Is there a Symantec product to purchase and use together with SMG that can help ?

I could configure an AD account lockout strategy but it has many other implications.

Please help.

On June 28, 2016, Symantec released Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6.5 (SEP 12.1 RU6 MP5).

What's new:

  • Adds support for Ubuntu 16.04.
  • Adds support for a SQL Server 2016 database.
  • Adds support for VMWare ESX 6.0.
  • Updates RSA SecurID authentication to support the latest RSA configurations, which require a token. This support includes the following: 
    • Continued support of RSA Authentication Agent 6.x.
    • Added support for RSA Authentication Agent 7.2.x, which allows communication with RSA Authentication Manager 8.1 using SID-800 tokens.

You can download this version from Symantec FileConnect.

For more information about this release, read the attached release notes. Product documentation has not been updated for this release.

I need a solution

Hello

I normally encrypt the full laptops hdd and set user and passwords and thats it for my use of this suite.

I have however accidentally enabled pgp messaging option.

I have removed the config via GUI, and turned of the suites services.

User logs on, then the popup asking to allow or deny encrypted emails pops ups. When i try to open the management portal on the users logon profile, it states services are off, but then how dows the popup occur......argh

Any registry cleanup i may need to do. Dont want to reformat and re-encrypt for something so trivial :(

Firewall blocks Group Policy Modeling

I need a solution

I am using SEP SBE cloud version with a policy basically derived from the default plicy provided.  When I try to run a Group Policy Results Wizard from a domain controller (Windows server 2012) on a windows client (win 7 or 10), the SEP firewall blocks the Group Policy wizard from running.  On the client machine, the firewall traaffic log shows 'rule default block EPMAP' rejected TCP(6) traffic with ...  I tried to create a custom rule to allow TCP traffic to this specific client on port 135, but the default rule is overriding the custom rule I created.  HOW CAN I GET THE SEP FIREWALL TO ALLOW THIS GROUP POLICY TRAFFIC?  thanks for the help.

Email DLP - Incident reconciliation.

Hello all,

Had a query regarding Email DLP. I have Endpoint Prevent and Network Prevent for Email configured in my environment. Endpoint agent monitors Emails via Outlook and OWA which is working fine. Once the Network Prevent for Email is configured completely, will the mails be monitored twice? Once by endpoint and then by Network Prevent server? And will it trigger duplicate incidents?

I saw something regarding incident reconciliation in Cloud prevent for email guide however the steps are specific to Linux server. Are there any steps for Windows server?

SEPM: How to speed up SEP client upgrade?

Hey guys,

Is there a way to speedup the auto upgrade feature of SEPM? We have about 900 clients that already reported to have accepted the upgrade package, but the average upgrade clients are only 30-40. Is there a way to trigger those clients to upgrade on demand instead of waiting for the SEP agent to upgrade itself
