Hi all,

I have a SEPM 12.1 server (latest version) running on a Windows 2012R2 server.

I would like to upgrade the OS to windows 2016 on this machine, is this allowed?

I am afraid SEPM 12.1 cannot run on windows 2016, in this case, would it be possible to upgrade the manager to v14 without upgrading the clients? I only have v12 licenses for my clients, and I am not eligible for upgrade to v14, so I don't want to upgrade the clients at the moment.

I need a solution

Hi,

we are a legitimate business who are hosting email and webservices for our clients.

Recently (3 weeks ago) we moved from our old host to a new host at OVH (France).

We bought a block of 8 IPs.

Unfortunately for us Symantec are indiscriminately blocking a huge block of the OVH IPs which ours are a part of

The block we purchased has the range 92.222.106.120 to 127

We use the delist tool at

http://ipremoval.sms.symantec.com/lookup/

We delisted all the IPs and our email server is associated with 92.222.106.120

Upon which the IPs are removed from Symantec list only to be re-added without any sort notification.

And although only 92.222.106.120 has email services associated with it ALL the IPs are blocked with the message re "similar to snow shoe spamming techniques"

Well how can this be since the other IPs dont have email sevices runnign on them?

We only find out when our clients call us to tell us their emails are not reaching there intended destinations.

This is starting to effect our business as some of our clients have to email large coorporations who are Symantec customers!

This is pure indescriminate blocking and we are not happy at this type of applied prejudice.

You can see below that our IP is not on any of the blacklists found at mxtoolbox.com

You can also see that we have applied almost every technology currently available to us to show we are a legitimate business running a legitimate email/webhosting service.

What I cannot grasp is how such a simple test as the one proposed below is not implemented against said IPs of bad reputation.

Let say

IP 1.1.1.1 has a bad rep and is associated with bad-domain.com

After a period of time the spammers leave the IP and some time later another person purchases the IP

so....

IP 1.1.1.1 has a bad rep and is now associated with good-domain.com

A simple check could be made to see that the IP 1.1.1.1 is not longer associated with the bad-domain.com and be put on a list that is under surveillance for x amount of time.

If after x amount of time the IP 1.1.1.1 which is now associated with good-domain.com is not found to be doing any sort of frowned upon activity then the IP 1.1.1.1 reputation should be marked a clean and moved to a 'good list'

This to me is a very simple way to stop this indiscriminate blocking of IPs.

So please can someone at Symantec understand that we should not be treated as spammers just because we are using a certain hosting company!

Hi,

I am having problems with updating my PGP key to Global Directory. My Key contains 4 identities. Once I select the proper file and press "upload", nothing happens for a while. After few moments, I get an error message saying: An unexpected error has occurred. Please try your request again. What can I do with that? Thank you.

Looking for solution for Windows 7 failure to update:

Worked with Brian @Symantec Connect-he referred me here:

Windows 7 will not update on my backup computer which I am currently using-have tried thru various techs to id problem to no avail. Obviously, concerned about vulnerability.

Ran symdiag and determined that VIP Access program was not running-could not determine why other than it was not loading on start up. At that point, I'm over my head as do not know what next.
Did see that vip access was load in 2014 and last package was Windows XP Service pack 2.
No threats on that threat scan.

Add info:

Not clear why last package indicates XP Service; I'm running Windows 7 prof-"may" be part of the problem, the other add here says VIP Access not configured but I do not use access from my mobile.

DSC and vsphere/nsx configuration

I need a solution

So we are trying to find a fix for an issue we are running into.

We are deploying a new install of DSC and we are running into trouble trying to configure the UMC for the Vsphere/NSX

We keep running into the following two errros depening on which users we try to use to add vsphere/nsx to UMC

1 - The specified user does not have the Enterprise Administrator role that is required to configure the NSX settings.

or

2 - The given NSX Manager is not paired with the vCenter '192.168.XX.XX'. Check the NSX Manager details.

Now error 1 happens when we try to use any SSO user that does have the Enterprise Administrator rights on that user, and we had tried different users, the default Adminsitrator user for vphere, even creating a new user as well.

Now error 2 happen when we try to use the local admin of the NSX.

All the articles I find basically say make sure the NSX and Vsphere pair is correct. Which it is, we log into the appliance and it shows connected, as well as from within vsphere itself

So we are not sure where to go from here.

SEPM live update not running automatically.

I need a solution

LiveUpdate on my SEPM has stopped running automatically as per the schedule. When I tried to run manuually getting error "LU1825: LiveUpdate could not understand how to install this update. You may need to get the latest version of LiveUpdate before you can install this update"

Unmanaged clients logs

Good morning,

does anyone know if there is a way of sending the logs generated in unmanaged clients to the db. I have a client asking for a way of adding the logs generated in their unmanaged clients to the database. They don't mind doing it in RT, but having the chance of doing it every now and them, even if it is manually.

Does anyone know if you can do it in SEP 14?

We are enterprise clients .

What are the disadvantages of being over-deployed?

Symantec.cloud not reinstalling after re-imaging

We have a problem with Symantec.cloud that is holding up our Windows 10 deployment.

We have created a symredistributable package and an .msp and distribute it through Group Policy.

When a new system is imaged the software gets installed and all is well.

However when this system is wiped and re-imaged, the software is not re-installed completely.

The event log shows that the product is configured successfully but no services are running nor files are present.

We do not understand how this can be, we have the idea that 'somehwere' a GUID of the computer is stored causing this problem.

The computer however is wiped and re-imaged completely. Even when the computer account is removed from AD before wiping the software doesn't reinstall.

Removing the computer from the cloud console doesn't help either.

Only 'redeploy software' at the AD level causes a full reinstall, but that's for all computers so that is no real solution. 

We find this problem very strange and have spend considerable time trying to figure out what is happening, to no avail.

At the moment it seems that we are going to have to switch to another manufacturer because our computers have to be reliably installed with AV software immerdialtely after imaging.

We don't want to put the software in the image because of the inflexibility that causes.

Other methods of distributing do not work because our users are not admins. Even if you manage to start of symredistributable as an admin, it only unpacks locally and starts another process to install which, very sad indeed, needs admin rights and gets you the UAC prompt.

ip blacklisted removal request

I need a solution

Hi,

we started 13th of may 2017 using a new subnet for our servers. Since then we are unable to send email to some destination because of your blacklist :

host smtp.aliceposta.it[82.57.200.133] said:550 mail not accepted from blacklisted IP address [92.222.116.148] (in reply to MAIL FROM command)

last week i had to request the delisting every two days, and yesterday I setup relayhosts in postfix to route everything to old VPSes ( luckily still working at the moment ).

My IP range is 92.222.116.144 to 92.222.116.151, can someone of the Symantec take care of this and help me not to fall again in blacklist?

I think that if all emails , without arising alarms, pass through old VPS IP's they should pass from new IPs too...in fact we just moved VPSes to new IPs just reconfiguring their interface address

1) Symantec is the only to blacklist our mail servers.

2) There's no spam coming out from our mail servers

3) There's no virus on our mail servers

4) Our mail servers are not open relays

5) Our mail servers has not dynamic IPs

6) Our inverse records are correcly registered for the name of the new server

7) Our SPF records are present and working for the main domain

Please help, i can't maintain old VPSes working  more than a week ...

I can install the SEP on my VM instance, so what makes me go for CWP rather than its visual management interface through which I can view the status of all of my cloud instances?

Too many notifications about applications changing

I need a solution

Since upgradig to SEP 14 (on Win 10) I'm getting a lot of notifications about applications that have changed since last usage.  Whilst I thought it was quite good at first, it's just becoming a nuisance now.  After a Windows update I have to acknowledge about 15 changes.  Can this setting be toned down somewhere?  Thought it would be under SONAR but unless I'm missing somehting (quite likely!!) I can't see it.

I need a solution

Hello, we have installed the following options on our laptops : Virus and Spyware Protection, Proactive Threat Protection and Network and Host Exploit Mitigation.
The last option is giving us issues because our engineers sometime use special hardware that now is being blocked by the last option.

Is there a way to remove this from on the central server, or do I need to create a new install package and ask everyone to re-install ?

I would like an solution without reinstalling at every client laptop (to many :-) )
