Matching percentage from mutiple PDFs in IDM document profile

Hello:

I have multiple business areas that I create IDM and EDM policies. Specifically with IDM, I will occassionally receive several PDFs that are part of a collection for a Play Book that a business unit will use during the year. The response rules operate perfectlty but my questions is surrounding the indexed pdfs themselves.

What would be the best practice in this instance?

(I think I already know the answer but I want to verify with a SME)

Question:

When you create a new IDM document profile with multiple files within the zip file, does the match percentage apply to all of the documents individually in the zip or does the policy apply the match percentage against all the files as a whole profile?

PGP SDA - Number of extracted objects does not match footer

I need a solution

We recieve PGP SDA's from our clients on a regular basis.  Usually these SDA's are extracted on 32bit Windows XP without issue.  With support for XP coming to an end, we are moving XP out of our environment.  

We have found that a set of PGP SDA's received from the client will extract without issue on Windows XP, but fail to extract on the following Operating Systems:

  • Windows 7 32Bit  <-- we did this just to make sure it wasn't a 32/64bit thing.
  • Windows 8 64bit
  • Windows Server 2012 64bit  (Our new 1U machines) 

The PDP SDA opens, accepts a password, and then begins to extracting.   At the very end we receive the error message: "Number of extracted objects does not match footer"

Has someone seen this error before and can they explain the issue?

I need a solution

Okay, I currently am trying to clean up a bit of our policies at my company. We currently monitor attachments through SMTP and flag multiple attachments that are large (too inspect for HIPPA, acceptable use violations, etc) and I wanted to know if there is a good solution to being able to exclude known pictures that are used as company logos (at the bottom of their emails)? These images come through as a generic attachment it seems so I'm lost at how to do this and it is ineffective to use the file size as method (or it appears so). Anyone have any ideas?

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.4 prevents deletion of cached profile

I have seen variants of this issue posted before in past Symantec issue posts but I wanted to see if any updates have occurred in a possible solution for this annoying issue.

 

In our organization, we create Windows 7 accounts for our 'Public' workstations that are fairly locked down.  These are mandatory roaming profiles.  When the patron logs out of the account, the cached copy is deleted from the hard drive with the fresh copy then being brought over from a central server.  Well every so often, the cached copy of the profile is not completely removed as Symantec has a log file in the following path locked, preventing deletion.

 

C:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\Logs\xxxxxx.log

 

The log file that is locked even prevents deletion from a Domain Admin so a script to remove it does not work.  If one were to reboot the workstation then this can be deleted with no issue.

 

 

SEPM 11.x AV Defs Stuck at 5/30/14?

Anyone else still running SEP 11 where your SEPM's antivirus/antispyware definitions haven't updated since Friday, 5/30/14?  PTP is up to 6/2/14 so I know connectivity is OK and I see no errors in LU status in my SEPM (i.e. shows 32/64-bit av defs are up-to-date at 5/30/14).  Let me know if your SEPM (I'm on 11.0.5) has updated its antivirus/antispyware defs past 5/30/14 to determine whether it's a problem on my server.  Thanks in advance!

When I am checking on one of the PC's, I see this message, "The client has decided to reject the upgrade package"

1. I have not designated ANY upgrade pacakge for this site or client

2. This PC is ALREADY at the LATEST version, so I am not sure exactly what it is rejecting

3. There have been no manual or remote pushes to this client.

4. Why would a client reject an upgrade package anyway?

5. Copy and paste STILL DO NOT work in IE in these forums.

I need a solution

Does symantec have an update/management solution for clients?  I have a remote site that does not have a site vpn to the main office.  The nodes at this site are managed through main site but are updating through a client vpn that runs on the local workstation.  This is problematic so i was wanting to know if symantec has a solution similar to what trend micro has in that you can install the client on the remote workstation to update from the internet, but that client will still report back to the corporate console at main site(what they call roaming mode).  Does sep have this?

Server 2012/2012R2

Incessant Audit Failures rec'd on all my servers.  It seems as if I get them mulitple times per minute...each and every minute...every day...after day...after day...

Does anyone have an update or a fix on this issue?  The only thing I've found is the following KB:

The only suggestion is to turn off auditing.  This is not an option for us and I need to know if there is a fix or will it be fixed in the next itteration of SEP?

Hello - I sent an install package with an immediate reboot command to about 10 pcs.  The reboot command only worked on half of the PCs i sent it to.  How and where do I check to see what the issue was and why it did not reboot?

Encryption Desktop security questions error

Hi All,

We are trying to change a user's 5 security questions through the Encryption Desktop GUI.

The security questions wizard starts, all questions are answered and after clicking next on the last question, the wizard displays:

"Encryption desktop encountered a problem. You security questions ans answers were not saved."

The logs don't show anything (debug enabled).

 

Version used is 10.3.2 MP1. Seeing this in two different encryption environments with the latest client version.

 

Anyone else encountering this issue or knows what the cause of this could be?

Hi All,

 

I am currently facing an issue with a lot of machines. Whenever I tried to start the already stopped "smc" service of SEP. I am not able to do so & hence got this error:

 

"Could not start the Symantec Management Client service on local computer.

Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."

 

Pleasesuggect any valid solution. 

 

 

Cannot log into SDCSS 6.0 Manager after upgrade from SCSP 5.2.9

I need a solution

I just did upgraded my test SCSP 5.2.9 Manager and Server to SDCS 6.0. I installed both the Server and Console.

After completing the upgrade I attempted to log into the console, but I get the following error:

Login Failed.
SDCSS could not log you on. Make sure your user name and password are correct, and that your System Administrator has given you permission to use this application

I then tried to log in with 'symadmin'. I followed the steps to clear the password in the dbo.USR table for 'symadmin'. But I still get the same login failed message.

What else can I try? I am certain that I have my username and password correct. And the connection information in the server.xml appears to be correct and unchanged from pre-upgrade. I validated that this worked before beginning the upgrade.

Is Symantec DLP 11.5 compatible with Oracle 12c

I need a solution

Hi,

We have Symantec DLP 11.5 implemented in our Enterprise. The DB being used currently is Oracle 11g. The organisation is planning to upgrade the DB to Oracle 12c and wants to know if Symantec DLP 11.5 is compatible with Oracle 12c. None of the Symantec documents talk about upward compatibility.

Clients not updating Defs from GUP

I need a solution

I have some new GUPs on 12.1.4013.4013.

For testing we have set the Heartbeat/Download intervals to 5 min / 5 min.

The few clients we have pointing to the GUP have not updated their definitions and have been reporting back to the GUP consistently for several hours.

The SEPM is updating the check-in time, but the clients are not getting the latest definitions from the GUPs.

What can we do to force the clients to get definitions from the GUP?
